Mal Seward is an information experience designer and artist who specialises in immersive responsive artworks linking the mountains of the Italian Dolomites and London in real time. He works with digital media and sound but likes to engage audiences with analogue tape loops, super 8 film and tactile sculptural models.
His work merges environmental live data and sound to evoke mountain stillness and urban pulse, collapsing distance and mirroring PTSD’s coexistence of safety, beauty, tension and unease.
My life has been remarkably diverse, spanning various fields. My motivation arises out of clear creative ideas followed by an ability to visualise my concepts in detail. This is combined with my great capacity to learn and utilise whatever skills may be needed to bring my ideas into being.
I am currently studying MA Information Experience Design at the Royal College of Art.
